[Kenya VISA] Too Comfortable for VISA apply

VISA has been abolished, but will be replaced by eTA

On January 5, the Kenyan government announced a new Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system for foreign visitors, accessible online at www.etakenya.go.ke. This system, introduced following President William Ruto’s December 12, 2023, announcement on visa abolition, replaces the need for traditional temporary visas for tourists and short-term business travelers, including children under 18. The eTA application costs $30 and is processed within three days, though early application is recommended due to potential delays from the new system’s rollout. Existing visas remain valid, and long-term visitors must convert to a residency permit upon arrival.

– Despite the move towards eTAs, fees akin to the previous visa system persist, reflecting the government’s balancing act between eliminating visas and maintaining revenue and security measures.

The simplest and smartest application screen

You should not encounter any issues with the application interface. It is designed to be quite advanced and user-centric.

The concerns were as follows, but they were not problematic since the application was approved.

– I uploaded a photo almost identical to the one used in my passport, but it turned out to be a close-up of my face.

– I uploaded a screenshot of the hotel reservation, which was written in Japanese.

– There was no field to write my name when making the payment with a credit card.
